Meet Instructor

Lieutenant Colonel Kiran Bikram Rana (Retd.) brings more than 32 years of distinguished service in the Nepal Army, with extensive experience in military leadership, officer selection, training, and personnel assessment. He completed various professional military courses, including the Officer Cadet Selection Course (GTO) in Pakistan, and served as a Group Testing Officer (GTO).

With more than 14 years of experience in Officer Cadet Selection, Lt. Col. Rana has played a significant role in assessing and selecting recruits, technical personnel, Officer Cadets, Direct Recruits (DRs), Engineers, and officers for various technical fields. His extensive experience in selection and assessment provides valuable insight into the qualities and competencies required for military leadership and officer-level responsibilities.

During his distinguished military career, Lt. Col. Rana served in a wide range of command, instructional, and leadership positions, from the tactical level to the strategic level. His key appointments include:

• Company Commander, Mechanized Company
• Company Commander, Malchalani Adda, Birgunj
• Battalion Second-in-Command (2IC), Mechanized Battalion
• Battalion Commander, Infantry Battalion
• Officer responsible for Extra-Curricular Activities at Sainik Mahavidhyalaya, Sallaghari, Bhaktapur
• Liaison Officer at Sainik School, Phulbari, Pokhara

These assignments provided him with extensive experience in military leadership, personnel management, training, administration, operational planning, and organizational development.

United Nations Peacekeeping Missions

Lt. Col. Rana served in four United Nations (UN) peacekeeping missions, gaining valuable international military and leadership experience in:

• Somalia
• Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo)
• Liberia
• Central African Republic (CAR)

During these missions, he held several important appointments, including Company Commander in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, COE Team Leader in Liberia, and Chief of MCS Coordinator and Team Leader in the Central African Republic.

His UN assignments further strengthened his experience in international peacekeeping, leadership, coordination, team management, and multinational operations.
